A stand-alone EHR application will not qualify for the stimulus funding.
According to the regulations and "meaningful use" guidelines, providers must share patient specific clinical data within a common community HIE.
Basically, clinical data from the primary care providers would need to be sent electronically to ever other provider treating the same patient following the national CCD standard.
This means that ever provider who wants to receive a stimulus payment will need to connect with a local or national Health Information Exchange (HIE) hosted by a local community or hospital.
Currently I am working with 7 HIE communities, all striving to connect the physicians together into a collaborative environment.
So is your stand alone EHR product HIE enabled to meet the 2008 CCD HITSP standards for interoperability?
